Mahoney seeks help to fill FACT bus with toys for needy children
HARRISBURG — Hoping Fayette County residents will be more generous than ever, state Rep. Timothy S. Mahoney, D-South Union Twp., has set the lofty goal of filling a Fayette Area Coordinated Transportation bus with holiday toys for needy children.
During the two-day drive, Mahoney said the FACT bus will be at his Uniontown constituent service office — located at 66-A Lebanon Ave., off the end of Dixon Boulevard — from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.
“We’re again asking for help to make Christmas brighter for children who otherwise might not get a present,” Mahoney said, noting that all toys will be forwarded to Fayette County Children and Youth Services for distribution. “The kids and families on the receiving end of our community’s generosity are always grateful.”
Mahoney said those who drop off a toy on Saturday also will be able to visit with Santa Claus, and partake of cookies and hot chocolate.
“If you can find the intent in your heart and the money in your pocketbook, we’re asking that you donate a new, unwrapped toy on Friday or Saturday,” Mahoney said. “Let’s stuff that bus — and show it’s a FACT that Fayette County cares.”
