State police investigate two robberies
State police are investigating robberies that occurred Thursday at two separate Circle K Convenience Store locations in Fayette County.
The first occurred at 2:32 a.m. at the Circle K Convenience Store located at 2001 W. Crawford Ave. in Dunbar Township.
The suspect is described as being 5’5″ to 5’10” with a thin build. He was wearing gloves, a ski mask and a burgundy coat. State police said he displayed a gray handgun during the incident, and that he may have arrived at the scene via a dark-colored, two-door passenger vehicle, possibly with tinted windows.
The second incident occurred at 9 p.m. at the Circle K store located at 251 Hopwood-Fairchance Road in South Union Township, police said. According to police, this suspect also displayed a handgun during the course of the robbery, and is described as being about 6 feet tall with an athletic build. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt with black lettering across the chest, and dark-colored pants, police said.
People were walking toward the store as the suspect left the store, and they ran when they observed him. Police said witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot, and a shell casing was found at the scene. According to police, the man may have fled in a tan colored minivan on Hopwood-Fairchance Road toward Route 40.
Police said it is unknown if the two incidents are related. The investigation is ongoing.
