AGASD to host information meeting on curriculum changes

By The 1 min read

Albert Gallatin Area School District will host an informational session for parents, students and teachers at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Albert Gallatin Area High School cafeteria.

The purpose of the meeting is to communicate details regarding the realignment of middle school educational programs, which was introduced and adopted by school board directors at a meeting in May.

In a press release from the district, administration officials indicated they hope to clarify any misconceptions that may exist regarding the changes for the 2013-14 school year.

The district is making moves to comply with the federally mandated Common Core Curriculum standards. Some electives, including art and exploratory language, will be eliminated in middle school, while additional instruction time will be focused on math and English language arts in the upcoming school year.

District administration encourages attendance in order to receive a better understanding of the recently adopted changes.
