MVH announces weekly events

Monongahela Valley Hospital (MVH) is sponsoring a variety of informative programs during June. Many of the events will be held in the hospital’s Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center (ECC) unless otherwise noted.

Monday

Cancer Support Group

2 p.m., Hospital 7-East Family Room. This support group is free and open to all cancer patients and their families. The group meets the third Monday of each month. For more information, call 724-258-1704.

Tuesday through Thursday

Managing Your Diabetes

6 to 9 p.m., ECC. This session builds on the education received in the Managing Your Diabetes program. Learn more about food choices, dining out and how eating habits affect blood glucose control. Completion of the three-day Diabetes Self Management Training is required prior to attending this class. For more information and to register, contact the Center for Diabetes at 724-258-1483.

Thursday and Friday

AARP 55 Alive Beginners Driving Course

9 a.m. to 1 p.m., ECC. The nation’s first and largest classroom driver improvement course specially designed for motorists age 50 and older. It is intended to help improve skills while teaching accident and traffic violation avoidance. Some insurance companies offer discounts for course completion. All information is conveyed in a classroom setting in two half-day sessions. The cost to attend the class is based on AARP membership. Pre-registration is required and can be completed by calling 724- 258-1333.
