Officials from the Fayette County Coroner’s office said Monday that they are fairly certain that a bone found buried in an alleyway in Uniontown is an animal bone, but said that they are seeking additional information before closing their investigation.

Uniontown police said the bone was found buried in an alley near 96 Millview St. on Saturday evening.

Roger Victor, chief field investigator for the coroner’s office, responded to the scene and conducted a dig at the site that unearthed a Barbie doll and another toy, but no additional bones were found, officials said.

A radiologist reviewed the bone and determined that it was likely an animal bone.

But officials said that a forensic pathologist is set to examine the find today before a final determination is made.
