Charges dismissed in assault and robbery
State police said all charges were dismissed against a Uniontown man accused of participating in a robbery and assault in South Union Township on April 19.
Brandon Lee Epps, 21, was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and theft following the incident and was placed in Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.
Those charges were dismissed last week after the alleged victims in the case failed to testify against Epps.
Police said that the charges were filed against Epps after he, an unidentified man and the late Rashaad Alexander Harris, 20, of Uniontown attacked and robbed Clarence Lancaster, 32, and Carl Seiler, 26, both of Uniontown, around 11:45 p.m.
Trooper Heather L. Clem said that following the incident, police secured a warrant for Harris’s arrest for assault and robbery.
He remained on the lam until he was shot and killed in Uniontown early May 18.
Uniontown police said they are continuing to investigate Harris’s slaying and are pursuing all leads in the case.
According to Clem, the suspects beat Lancaster in the head with a handgun and ordered Seiler to the ground at gunpoint.
The men then stole $200 from Lancaster and, before leaving the scene, the unidentified suspect struck Lancaster in the head with a revolver, police said.
The suspects then ran from the scene, police said. Police said that Lancaster suffered a large gash on his head from the assault that required three staples to close.
