The following information details achievements in education earned by those in the Herald-Standard readership area.
Student graduates
John Ekas V, son of John and Cyndi Ekas of Uniontown, recently graduated magna cum laude from Dickinson College Bachelor of Arts in East Asian studies. Other recognition included: dean’s list, Phi Beta Kappa. Ekas V is a graduate of Laurel Highlands High School.
Degree earned
Kevin James Brenzy, D.O., recently graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) with a degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. While at WVSOM, Dr. Brenzy was a member of Psi Sigma Alpha. Brenzy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from California University of Pennsylvania in 2007 and is a 2000 graduate of Albert Gallatin Area High School. Brenzy is the son of Robert and Carol Brenzy of Masontown and is married to Lauren Brenzy. He plans to enter a neurology program at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Student accepted
Miranda Arison of New Salem, has been accepted for admission to Saint Vincent College for the fall 2013 semester. A daughter of James and Helen Arison, she plans to major in biology and pre-medicine programs at Saint Vincent College. Arison graduated from Brownsville Area High School where she was a member of the yearbook staff as the senior editor.
Student recognized
Jasmine Beasley has been recognized for academic achievement as a United States National Honor Student Award Winner. She is a daughter of Michele Young and James Beasley Sr. of Uniontown and a granddaughter of Wilfred and Adalay Popp of Uniontown and the late James and Dorothy Beasley of Buffalo, NY. Beasley is a student at Laurel Highlands Middle School. She will appear in the academy’s official yearbook and be honored for her dedication, talent and ability.
