MVH announces weekly events

Monongahela Valley Hospital (MVH) is sponsoring a variety of informative programs during June. Many of the events will be held in the hospital’s Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center (ECC) unless otherwise noted.

Monday

Breastfeeding Class

6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Mon-Vale HealthPLEX. This free class is designed for mothers who plan to breastfeed to help them feel more comfortable and confident while in the hospital after delivery and when returning home. Many props are used in this class including breast pumps. Partners and grandmothers are welcome and encouraged to attend. For more information, call 724-258-BABY (2229) ext. 25.

Tuesday

Innovations in Knee Replacements

6 p.m., ECC. Dr. Scott Baron will present a free program to discuss the process of and innovative procedures for knee replacements. This program is part of MVH’s “Innovations in Medicine” series featuring physician guest speakers providing medical information to the community. Baron will repeat the talk at the HealthPLEX Willow Room at 6 p.m. July 29. Refreshments will be served and parking is free. To register, call the MVH reservation hotline at 724-258-1333.

Wednesday

Diabetes Support Group

6 to 8 p.m., Mon-Vale HealthPLEX, Center for Fitness and Health. This support program is free for people with diabetes, their families and caregivers. The topic will be, “Is the Dean Ornish Program Right for You?” Advanced registration is required by calling 724-258-1483.

Thursday

Infant and Child CPR Class

6 to 9 p.m., ECC. Be prepared to help a choking baby or small child. Sign up to learn emergency life saving techniques of clearing airway obstructions and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The fee is payable to VHSTC and advance registration is required by calling the Valley Health and Safety Training Center at 724-684-9536.

Friday

MVH and Red Cross Blood Drive

9 a.m. to 3 p.m., ECC. MVH, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is sponsoring a blood drive to benefit the local community. Free parking is available. For more information or to register, call 724-494-4090 or register online at www.redcrosslife.org.
