A Uniontown man who police allege was intoxicated and unconscious on the porch of a Uniontown residence while his 2-year-old daughter wandered in traffic last month will stand trial.

Shawn Andre Hodgetts Jr., 28, of 312 W. Main St. was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person and possession of drug paraphernalia following the incident April 30.

Hodgetts waived all charges against him to Fayette County Court following a preliminary hearing on Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros.

Uniontown police Lt. Thomas Kolencik said that officers were called to Montview Street for a report of a child wandering in the street on May 16.

He said that when he arrived, the child was crying, had dirt on her face and a wet diaper.

Kolencik said that a man spotted the child and was caring for her until police arrived.

Kolencik said that he eventually found Hodgetts on a screened-in rear porch a few houses from where the girl was discovered.

Hodgetts remains free after posting $4,500 straight cash bond.
