Local man killed in shooting

1 min read

State police in Uniontown are investigating a trooper-involved shooting that occurred late Friday night in which a North Union Township man was killed.

Officers responding to a domestic dispute reported to 911 at around 10:40 p.m. encountered Shawn E. Knight, 50, when they attempted to enter the home at 52 Rose Boulevard, police said.

Knight displayed a handgun in each hand, police said, pointing them at the officers, who have not yet been identified. The officers retreated from the residence and took cover outside, police said.

Knight followed the officers outside with the guns drawn, police said.

Police said Knight failed to comply with verbal commands, at which point the officers both fired several shots, one of which was fatal.

The officers were not injured in the incident, police said. Both officers have been put on administrative duties which is standard per department regulations, according to police.
