Adult learners can now enroll in more than 200 online courses this summer offered by West Virginia University’s Continuing and Professional Education unit. Registration is now open for classes that can be used for workforce development or personal enrichment.
Courses that are expected to be popular include Forensic Nursing, Law/Legal courses, Gerontology: LGBT Issues & Older Adults, a Certificate in End of Life Care, Less Stress – More Joy, Spanish for Medical Professionals, Digital Photography, West Virginia Genealogy, Introduction to Biometrics, Start Your Own Edible Garden and more. Commencement set
Waynesburg University will hold commencement exercises for its 650 graduates at 2 p.m. May 19, on the front lawn of Miller Hall. Rev. Dr. R. Bruce Bickel will address the Class of 2013 as the commencement speaker. In case of inclement weather, the Commencement Ceremony will be held in Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
Lecture scheduled
California University of Pennsylvania welcomes Dr. James McKenna, a leading authority on mother-infant co-sleeping, for a lecture at 7 p.m. May 9 in Eberly Hall, Room 110. His lecture is titled “Scientific Studies of the Evolution of Human Mother-Infant Attachment: Implications for the Health and Well Being of Mothers and Babies in Urban Industrialized Settings.” McKenna is the director of the Mother-Baby Behavioral Sleep Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame, and a world-renowned expert on infant sleep — in particular the practice of bed sharing or co-sleeping. The lecture is free, and the public may attend.
