Teacher honored
Fayette County Career and Technical Institute’s Culinary Arts teacher Melissa McKulka was named SkillsUSA Pennsylvania State Advisor of the Year, recognizing her efforts to promote the mission of the SkillsUSA organization to the students of the Fayette County CTI: to empower its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. McKulka was recently honored at the Pennsylvania State SkillsUSA Competition in Hershey. Additionally, McKulka has received the Golden Apple Award presented by the Westmoreland/Fayette County Learning for Life Organization and last year received the Learning for Life Lifetime Achievement Award for service above and beyond for the special education communities of Westmoreland/Fayette Counties. She has also received the honor of being name Associate Member of the Year for The Laurel Highlands Chapter of the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association. McKulka has been a SkillsUSA Advisor for the past 25 years. She is a faculty liaison member of the Fayette County CTI Alumni.
