Brownsville girls sweep, boys edged in Section 3-AA meet
Washington’s D’Heaven Kelley was just four seconds off the Hillman Park course record Tuesday afternoon, leading the Prexies to a Section 3-AA triangular sweep of Brownsville and Fort Cherry.
In the girls race, Kara Rohlf and Allie Seto finished second and third to lead the Lady Falcons to a sweep.
Kelley finished Brownsville’s home course 17:06, 1:38 ahead of Brownsville’s Ricky Brown. Washington beat both Brownsville (23-36) and Fort Cherry (23-33), while the Rangers salvaged a split with a 25-29 win over the Falcons.
The Falcons’ Riley Higinbotham finished third in 19:08. Jake Zahuranic (14, 22:56), Brad Beatty (18, 24:03), and Shane Ziglear (19, 24:05) also factored into Brownsville’s final score.
California’s Josh Luko placed sixth in a personal best 20:05.
The Falcons are 1-6 in the section. Washington improves to 5-3, while Fort Cherry evens out at 3-3.
The Brownsville girls clinched at least a share of the section title by defeating Washington (25-49) and Fort Cherry (15-50). The Lady Falcons have to make up a meet against Avella to clinch an undefeated season.
Rohlf finished in 21:56, and Allie Seto crossed in 23:48.
Fort Cherry’s Erin Allison finished first in 21:17, and California’s Eilish Miller was fourth with a time of 24:06.
Adrienne Vance (6, 24:38), Abby Vaughn (7, 25:12), Katelyn Victor (8, 25:33), and Maris Seto (9, 25:57) all had top-10 finishes for the Lady Falcons.
