“Paradisio” art exhibit set for Cal U
California University’s Department of Art and Design will present “Paradisio,” a multi-media exhibition, from Nov. 14-22 in the Vulcan Gallery, on the first floor of Vulcan Hall on campus.
Artwork may be submitted through Nov. 11 by Cal U alumni, as well as University students, faculty and staff.
Creative works that attempt to express or visualize the idea of paradise will be considered.
The exhibition will examine the concept of paradise from a variety of cultural and historical perspectives. It will include works in all media, including visual art, literature and performance pieces.
Two entries per person are allowed. Artworks, written works, and abstracts for performance pieces should be brought to the Vulcan Gallery, framed or matted (if appropriate), by 11 a.m. Nov. 11.
The exhibition will be curated and installed by students from advanced drawing and painting courses in the Department of Art and Design. All works will be eligible for prizes chosen by a panel of faculty judges.
An opening reception for “Paradisio,” with live music and food, will be held from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Vulcan Gallery. The exhibition will be on display through Nov. 22.
For more information about submissions, contact Cal U Department of Art and Design faculty members Maggy Aston at aston@calu.edu or Todd Pinkham at pinkham@calu.edu; or contact Art Club President Shannon Drudy at dru5424@calu.edu.
