Brownsville comes from behind to beat Bearcats

By The 1 min read

Ryan Novotney pitched four innings of scoreless relief and sparked a run-scoring rally in the top of the eighth inning Monday as visiting Brownsville defeated Bentworth in Section 2-AA action, 5-4, in eight innings.

Novotney singled with one out in the top of the eighth, and then promptly stole second and third. He came home on Tucker Pritts’ RBI single.

The Bearcats threatened to win the game in the bottom of the seventh, but with the bases loaded an one out Brownsville turned a fly ball to center field into a rally-killing, inning-ending double play.

Bentworth led 2-1 after two innings. Brownsville tied the game with a run in the top of the fifth, and regained the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Novotney didn’t allow any runs or hits in his four innings of work, striking out five and walking two. He also had a double and single, as did Pritts.

Brownsville hosts Burgettstown this afternoon.
