A Uniontown man was acquitted in Fayette County Court on Thursday of charges that he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl.

Kenneth Lee Miller, 28, faced charges of statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors after allegations surfaced that he had sex with the teen in North Union Township on multiple occasions between May and July of 2013.

The teen testified that the two began dating when she was 15 and that she initially believed he was 18. She told the jury that they progressed to having sexual intercourse, which she testified was consensual.

The alleged victim testified that the relationship ended when her mother learned Miller’s true age.

Miller, represented by Assistant Public Defender Mary Spegar, claimed that he didn’t have sex with the girl until she was 16 years old, when it was legally allowable to have consensual sex with her.

According to testimony, Miller confessed to police that he had sex with the teen when she was 15 years old.

Assistant District Attorney Meghann Mikluscak said, “We are baffled by the verdict.”
