Second annual Morgantown Walk/Run MS begins Saturday
MORGANTOWN, W.Va- For the second year in a row, supporters will come together to walk, run and raise money for multiple sclerosis awareness.
The 2014 Walk/Run MS will be held this Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park. Registration will open at 9 a.m. and ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m.
Co-hosts, Asayo Creative, Inc. and the Blue Ridge Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society have teamed up once again to plan, coordinate and execute this year’s event.
“Participating in Walk/Run MS means contributing to a cause that not only raises awareness, but also supports life-changing programs and research,” said Asayo Creative President, Damian Ferek. “The funds raised help give hope to both people living with MS and their loved ones.”
Event hosts encourage Morgantown residents, WVU students and businesses to come together to participate. Those interested may register as an individual or as a team.
“I think it’s really important for everyone, particularly businesses, to come out and get involved in things like this, ” said Blue Ridge Chapter Development Coordinator, Victoria Paul. “Every single connection counts. MS disrupts the connection between the body and the mind…so it’s only natural that connections we make would disrupt MS.”
Last year’s Walk/Run MS Morgantown helped raise more than $25,000 for the cause.
“Walk/Run MS was created to connect individuals whose lives are affected by multiple sclerosis,” said Ferek. “Nationally, more than $770 million has been donated to MS programs and research, and we want Morgantown to be a part of that cause.”
