Child pornography charges filed
A New Geneva man is free on bond after being charged with three counts related to child pornography for allegedly downloading graphic files of pre-teen children engaged in sex acts.
Raymond J. Trautman, 18, of 23 Spring St., New Geneva, is charged with distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility. The charges stem from an investigation by the state Attorney General’s Bureau of Special Investigations, Child Predator Section.
Investigators were able to download alleged child pornography through file sharing traced to Trautman’s computer on two occasions in February, all depicting young children engaged in sexual activities either with other children or with adult males.
Agents from the attorney general’s office went to Trautman’s home Wednesday, where additional files depicting child pornography were allegedly found on computers in Trautman’s bedroom. Trautman was taken into custody and was questioned at the state police barracks at Uniontown, where he admitted ownership of the computer and admitted that there was child pornography on it, according to court paperwork filed in the case.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Trautman “stated that he knows ‘this is wrong’ and ‘regrets ever looking for it,’ he also stated that the children in the videos and/or pictures that he has viewed were being ‘raped.'”
Trautman was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino, who set an unsecured $150,000 bond. Trautman faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Randy Abraham at a later date.
