The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce has honored Rebecca Nicholls, a junior at Frazier High School, as a student of the month for October.

A daughter of Jay and Joyce Nicholls, she is undecided about the post-secondary school she will attend but plans to study elementary education with the career goal of becoming a teacher.

Nicholls is a member of the Girl Scouts. She has received awards, including being a member of the Penn State 4.0 Club, Mock Trial Student Advocate Award, National Honor Society and the Top Ten Award.

At Frazier, she is involved in Future Business Leaders of America, student government, mock trial, art club, Interact Club, Helping Hands and is vice president of the ecology club.

Elected by their schools based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and citizenship, students of the month are honored by the chamber’s education council. They will be presented a recognition certificate at the students of the month dinner in April 2015.
