College Prep for Parents will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 18 in the Corporate Training Center, Eberly Building, Room 116. For more information or to RSVP, call the Penn State Fayette Admissions Office at 724-430-4130 or email sls67@psu .edu.

Program seeks enrollment

Juniors and seniors in Fayette County who want to gain college experience and credits before graduating high school can take advantage of the Dual Enrollment program at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus and get a 50 percent discount on tuition. The program has two components. Any student who qualifies may take classes at the Fayette campus, or faculty from Penn State Fayette will teach classes at high schools where there is enough interest.

According to Robert Tallerico, Penn State Fayette’s director of enrollment management, the Dual Enrollment program helps students to prepare for the future.

“Taking a Dual Enrollment course with Penn State while still in high school is an excellent way to get a head-start on your college degree at a discounted rate off of our normal tuition,” Tallerico said. “At some schools, such as Albert Gallatin Area Senior High School, Penn State has been able to offer a Dual Enrollment class right at the high school, making it even easier to enroll.”

Once students successfully complete a Dual Enrollment class, they can then apply credits earned toward a Penn State degree.

These classes also become part of a student’s transcript, which is recognized by all Penn State campuses. Students may be able to transfer credits earned through the Dual Enrollment program to another institution in the same manner as they would transfer other Penn State credits.

Any high school junior, senior, or administrator who is interested in the Dual Enrollment program should call the Penn State Fayette Admissions Office at 724-430-4138 or email thomonai@admissions.psu.edu.
