Emily Behm Applause

The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce has honored Emily Behm of Cardale, a junior at Brownsville Area High School, as a student of the month for March.
A daughter of Scott and Marla Behm, she plans to attend Seton Hill University to major in music education and minor in music therapy with the career goal of becoming a music teacher in the Brownsville Area School District.
Behm’s community involvement is with the Save Our Catholic Churches group, as a clarinetist with Post 8543 North Union Veterans of Foreign Wars Band and as a volunteer at the Republic Community Library. She has work experience as a substitute organist at the Fort Byrd United Presbyterian Church.
Behm has received the Superintendent’s Award, has been Falcon of the Month, is a member of the Penn State Fayette 4.0 Club, has been a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Honors Choir, Pennsylvania Music Educators’ District Band and the French National Honor Society.
She is involved in extracurricular activities at Brownsville, being the clarinet section leader in the marching band, is the website coordinator for the environmental club and is in the newspaper club.
Elected by their schools based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and citizenship, students of the month are honored by the chamber’s education council. They were presented a recognition certificate at the students of the month dinner in April.
