Bowlby Library offers educational children’s program
Children can be impacted by books even before they are capable of reading the words.
Another option parents have in Greene County is the Eva K. Bowlby Library Children’s Department which offers a wide variety of programs for children up to the age of six.
Because of this, the Children’s Department is now what the library is most known for in the community.
All programs are free and last roughly about an hour.
With this in mind, the workers of the department like to keep in mind the typical developmental patterns of each age.
Not only does it help the children develop literacy skills, but it also assists them in developing their social skills with other young children.
“There was one girl who came in that was shy and cried,” said Kerry McClure, staff member of the children’s department.
“Fifteen years ago, I wouldn’t expect myself to still be here today, but I really love it,” said McClure.
The children in the department absolutely adore her and it is quite noticeable when she interacts with them.
There are no deadlines, so parents may bring their children in when the time is best for them.
As Albert Einstein once said, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind.”
