The following information details achievements in education earned by those in the Herald-Standard readership area.
Scholarship recipient
Tyler J. Brown of Uniontown, a son of Nancy and Robert Brown, is the recipient of a Merit Scholarship from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, where he has been accepted as a member of the 2015 freshman class.
To study at Pitt
Francesca DeCarlo of Republic, a daughter of David and Susan DeCarlo, has been accepted as a member of the 2015 freshman class at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg where she will begin studies in early childhood education.
Dean’s list honors
Tyler Phillips of Brownsville, was named to the dean’s list for the 2015 spring semester at Washington & Jefferson College.
Recent graduate
Sandy Jo Risha, a daughter of Joe and Ronda Risha of Uniontown, recently earned a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University. She received a bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University in 2010. While attending Penn State, she co-founded The University Park Chapter of Engineers without Borders and traveled to Africa with a team of engineers to construct a latrine for a school in the community of Baoma in Sierra Leone. She is currently employed with the Department of Defense and resides in Hopatcong, New Jersey.
Student named
Nicole Wagner of Garards Fort, was named to the dean’s list for the 2015 spring semester at Washington & Jefferson College.
Scholarship recipient
Tyler Frazee of Uniontown, a son of Rodney and Jennifer Frazee, is the recipient of the Kalon Leadership Scholarship for Bethany College, where he plans to study physical education and sports studies.
Student named
Hillary Pratt of Carmichaels, was named to the dean’s list for the 2015 spring semester at Washington & Jefferson College.
Dean’s list honors
Caleb Ruthardt of Uniontown, was named to the dean’s list for the 2015 spring semester at Washington & Jefferson College.
