A Chalk Hill man accused of running a red light and causing a fatal crash rejected a plea bargain in Fayette County Court on Tuesday that called for up to two years in jail.

According to Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Casini, the prosecution was prepared to offer 59-year-old Daniel Linn Evans a term of one to two years incarceration in exchange for his pleading guilty to homicide by vehicle.

Samuel Davis, the attorney who represents Evans, indicated his client was not willing to accept the offer.

Evans allegedly failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Route 119 and Kingview Crossroads in Bullskin Township on April 4, 2013.

His vehicle struck and a vehicle driven by Darrell Bonomo, 63, of Export. Bonomo died at the scene.

Police also cited Evans for driving at an unsafe speed, not stopping at a red light, careless driving, reckless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

Judge Nancy D. Vernon directed the district attorney’s office to put the case back on the list for trial.

Evans remains free on $20,000 unsecured bond.
