By The 1 min read

A Farmington man is lodged in the Fayette County Prison after police say he told them he stabbed a man in self defense during a fight Tuesday.

Jacob Cruz Arroyo, 29, was at a party hosted by Elvin Burgos, no address provided, around 2 a.m. Tuesday when Burgos allegedly accused Arroyo of stealing a liquor bottle.

During the fight, Arroyo allegedly used his knife to protect himself and stabbed Burgos in the stomach area, according to the affidavit.

Burgos was taken to the Uniontown Hospital for treatment and later flown to UPMC Presbyterian, police said. Arroyo was treated for a small cut on his finger.

Arroyo was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and cited for harassment. He is scheduled to face a preliminary hearing on Dec. 28.
