Caleigh Hitchcock Applause

The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce has honored Caleigh Hitchcock of Smithfield, a junior at Albert Gallatin High School, as a student of the month for October.

A daughter of James and Melanie Hitchcock, she plans to attend Roberts Wesleyan College to study pre-med and ministry with the career goal of becoming a pediatric physician in a Third World country.

Hitchcock placed first at the Future Business Leaders of America Regional Competition and was a fourth-place finisher at the state level. She also participated in the West Virginia University Honors Band.

Hitchcock is involved in extra-curricular activities at Albert Gallatin, including Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, drama club, Bible club, Academic League, Penn State 4.0 Club and book club.

Her community involvement includes being active in the youth group at Abundant Life Church were she also volunteers in the nursery and with Bible school. She is a member of the youth praise band and volunteers at various Salvation Army events through her church.

Hitchcock has work experience as a junior counselor at Cornerstone Ministry Center Summer Camp, babysitting and doing yard work.

Elected by their schools based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and citizenship, students of the month are honored by the chamber’s education council. They will be presented a recognition certificate at the students of the month dinner in April.
