The following information details achievements in education earned by those in the Herald-Standard readership area.
To study
Ashley Krause of Uniontown, a daughter of Amy Leiberger and John Krause, has been accepted to Saint Vincent College for the fall 2016 semester, where she plans to study biology.
A student at Laurel Highlands High School, Krause is a captain of the cross country team and volunteers for numerous organizations including the American Heart Association and the Fayette County Food Bank.
Recent graduate
Sean Unice, D.O., a son of Dr. Kenneth and Holly Unice of Meadville, and a grandson of the late George and Husana Unice of Uniontown, recently graduated from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is fulfilling his family medicine residency at Meadville Medical Center.
Students inducted
Westmoreland County Community College recently inducted the following students into the college’s chapter of Sigma Alpha Pi, also known as the National Society of Leadership and Success at the Youngwood campus: Felicia Armbrust and Clarissa Brier, both of Mt. Pleasant; Katherine Spotted Bear of Scottdale; and Samantha Bankhead of Smithfield.

Harry Hiles of Isabella, a son of Harry and Mary Hiles, has been accepted to Saint Vincent College for the fall 2016 semester. He plans to study physical therapy and biology. A student at Brownsville Area High School, Hiles is a member of the cross country team, Interact club, environmental club and the musical/thespian society.
Degree earned
Marshall Thomas of Farmington, recently earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
Graduates recognized
Westmoreland County Community College recently recognized Kevin T. Diamond and Zachary Kodric, both of Uniontown, for graduating from its full-time Municipal Police Officers’ Training Academy. WCCC also recognized the following individuals for graduating from the part-time academy: Samuel Beucher and Thomas N. Leichliter, both of Connellsville; Edward J. Cuneo of Perryopolis; and Timothy J. Ferree of Mount Pleasant.
To study
Alexis Mosier of Uniontown, a daughter of Richard and Jennifer Mosier, has been accepted to Saint Vincent College for the fall 2016 semester, where she plans to study biology and pre-medicine. As a student at Laurel Highlands High School, Mosier is trumpet section leader and drum major in the marching band and also participates in the National Honor Society, symphonic band, jazz ensemble, softball and Students Against Destructive Decisions.
