Smithton Truck Stop robbed on Christmas Eve

State police are looking for a man in an alleged armed robbery in Westmoreland County.

Police said the alleged robber arrived at the Smithton Truck Stop around 10 p.m. Thursday and demanded money from the cashier while holding a handgun.

Another employee walked toward the desk, police said, and the allegedly robber then pointed the gun at him in a threatening manner.

The alleged suspect fled with around $963 but crashed his car on Motordrome Road. Police said he fled on foot into the woods.

Police said the alleged suspect was between 5’7″ and 6′ and weighed approximately 200 pounds. He was seen wearing all dark clothing, a dark-colored mask, a purple or blue sweat band and white gloves. Police said he was driving a silver Chrysler 300.

Police are continuing to investigate.
