Firefighters responded to a fire at Young’s Bakery on South Gallatin Avenue late Friday evening.
Uniontown fire chief Buck Griffith said they were called to the scene around 11 p.m. and quickly got the fire under control.
“Some of the buildings are so close, they’re almost touching in the back,” said Griffith. He said they were able to knock down the structure in a matter of minutes, and were on scene for about an hour and a half. No injuries were reported.
Griffith said the fire marshal was called to the scene and ruled the fire accidental, as no accelerants or signs of a forced entry were detected. He added that the building, which has been vacant for about 18 months, still had the electric turned on, which might have played a role in the fire’s origin.
Fayette 911 said Uniontown police and Fayette EMS also assisted on scene.
