WINNER – GRAND PRIZE & MAIN DISHES – LONGHORN SHEPHERD’S PIE

  • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Mushrooms (preferably fresh)
  • Salt & pepper
  • Celery seed or powder
  • Onion & garlic powder
  • 1 small jar beef gravy
  • 1 can mixed vegetables
  • 8 cups mashed potatoes (made with very little, if any, milk)
  • 12 oz. longhorn cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 13″X9″ pan. In skillet, brown ground beef. Drain. In another skillet, brown onion, garlic and mushrooms. Add to beef mixture. Add vegetables and season. Add gravy. Put in bottom of pan. Make mashed potatoes. Add 3/4 of cheese. Spread on meat mixture. Bake for 30 minutes. Raise oven temperature to 375 degrees. Top with remaining cheese. Bake 10-15 minutes. Let sit for 15 minutes.
