Brownsville tennis tops West Mifflin, 4-1

Brownsville 4, West Mifflin 1 — Brownsville swept double action and picked up two out of three wins in singles play to defeat West Mifflin, 4-1, on Monday in Section 1-AA tennis action at West Mifflin.

The Falcons’ Jake Robbins defeated Darren Studiach, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. Andy Blackwell picked up the Titans’ lone match when he downed Lenny Michaux, 6-4, 6-3. Christian Carpenter closed out the singles action for Brownsville (3-5, 4-5) with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Jasper Sales.

Shandon Marshall and Brad Beatty teamed up to top Jake Diego and Benny Moses, 7-5, 6-2. Kyler Flowers and Kyle Phillabaum defeated Tyler Beck and Zach Schnude, 1-6, 16-14, 13-11 in the tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles.

The Falcons travel to California today for a Section 1-AA match at 3:30 p.m.

West Mifflin falls to 2-5.
