Days after the United Nations voted to condemn Israeli settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, Donald Trump questioned its effectiveness Monday, saying it’s just a club for people to “have a good time.” What do you think? Do you think the UN still has a place in today’s world or has it outlived its usefulness?

“The United Nations gives the countries of the world a forum to get together and discuss problems and try to resolve conflicts without resorting to war. Having the UN in New York allows America the status of hosting all nations. Since when has discussing problems and trying to solve them peacefully been wrong?”

“The UN members are a protected group in this country. If they commit crimes in this country, they are not held accountable. That needs to be changed.”

“It’s called ‘diplomatic immunity.’ It is used by most countries throughout the world in their dealings with other countries. Talking is always preferable to war.”

“I’ve been saying for a long time that all UN is worthless. Nothing ever comes of their sanctions and resolutions. They love being in the U.S. because of all the perks. It’s time for them to go.”

“Before you start dissing sanctions, inform yourself about their effects. Sanctions work.”

“The UN has become anti-American and anti-Israel. U.S. taxpayers fund approx 80 percent of all UN expenses. I think the U.S. should cut back on the funding and let the other members pay their fair share, which they have been avoiding for a long time.”

“Spoken like a true Trumpite! What about all the good the UN has done over the years. Be short sighted like Mr. Trump and think only of yourself! Do you agree with Mr. Trump’s stance on expanding our nuclear arsenal? I think starting a new business building fall out shelters may be a lucrative endeavor.”

“Never did Trump call for expanding the nuclear arsenal. He said modernization. In case you haven’t noticed, the U.S. has downsized it’s nuclear capability over the last 20 years. The present technology and delivery systems are circa 1960, while all along Russia and China have modernized their nuclear weapons. They are capable of multiple payloads on improved ICBMs.”

“We definitely need to update our nuclear weapon technology. Our launch facilities use old-fashioned phones and some computers still use 1982 disc technology. The only modern technology used at present is found in the sub fleet. By the way China has a navy larger than ours and a large nuclear sub fleet. It’s about time the Democrats give it up and start pulling together with the Republicans. We are playing political games in Washington while other countries are amassing large militaries and weapons that we have no defense against.”

“I suggest you check out the Donald’s tweets on Dec 23 and Dec 24. He wants to expand the nuclear arsenal. His tweet was in response to Vladimir Putin’s tweet. No one can win a nuclear war. I suggest you listen to and read as many sources as you can and then make up your own mind. You shouldn’t just regurgitate the Trump team’s assertions.”

“This is why the entire civlized world is against us.”
