Prisoner arraigned on assault charges, accused of breaking another inmate’s face
A former Fayette County Prison inmate accused of breaking a bone in another inmate’s face was arraigned on Friday.
Magisterial District Judge Michael Metros arraigned Jonathan Wesley Harris, 28, of Pittsburgh, charges of assault by prisoner, aggravated assault and simple assault. He was committed to the county lockup in lieu of $7,500 bond.
Harris allegedly fought with William Steven Hall at the Fayette County Prison on Dec. 11. Both men reportedly told police the fight was mutual.
Hall, who is awaiting trial for a string of robberies in Fayette and surrounding counties, was taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment. According to police, the incident was captured on jail surveillance.
Harris pleaded guilty in October to possession of contraband, marijuana and paraphernalia. He was sentenced to one-and-a-half to three years, and allegedly engaged in the fight with Hall before being transferred from the county lock-up to a state prison.
Harris’ preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. before Metros.
