Bulldogs win final 3 matches to upend J-M, 39-34
Beth-Center won the final three bouts to overcome a 13-point deficit and defeat visiting Jefferson-Morgan, 39-34, in a Section 2A-AA wrestling match on Wednesday night.
After Eric Holmes received a forfeit at 145 for the Bulldogs, Bruce Leonard of B-C pinned Justin Mattich in 2:50 at 152 to pull the hosts within one point.
Johnny Little then won the match for Beth-Center at 160 by pinning Tristan Yeager in 1:57.
The match began at 170 with back-to-back forfeits by Dominic Fundy and Anthony Welsh for B-C.
The Rockets’ Billy Bowlen pinned Bob Work in 1:14 at 220 to get the Rockets on the board, and Dalton Fowler of J-M nipped David Headlee, 2-1 at 285.
J-M’s Nathan Palmer received a forfeit at 106, but the Bulldogs took the next two matches. Richard LaRosa pinned Hunter Journic in 4:53 at 113, and Jimmy Gwyer decisioned Zach Tedrow, 9-5, at 120.
Gavin Teasdale started a string of three straight wins for the Rockets by pinning Dylan Swarrow in 1:54 at 126.
Josh Agnew then pinned Jacob Housel in 5:50 at 132, and Aaron Mylan nipped Timmy Welsh, 1-0, at 138, but that only set the stage for the Bulldogs’ comeback.
