Words from the web

2 min read

During a recent Monday at Liberty University, which was founded by evangelist Jerry Falwell, Donald Trump referred to a Bible verse as Two Corinthians, 3:17, instead of the correct term Second Corinthians. Do you think this shows that Trump really isn’t familiar with the Bible and its verses, or do you think that’s nit-picking? Do you think Trump was being sincere when talking to the students, or do you think he was just telling them what they wanted to hear.

“He was just making the Bible great again.”

“He’s not religious, and he has admitted it. He said he goes to church once a year, maybe. He doesn’t read the Bible. So why was he at Lynchburg? Was he pandering? I think so.”

“Anyone who has been to church, or vacation Bible school, or even Sunday school at least once in their life knows the books of the Bible, and how to pronounce them.”

“Maybe some of us have better memories.”

“Yes, but he’s a genius, so he should remember.”

“He was pandering. They all do it.”

“Funny how no one ever asked a question like this to Obama, who does not attend church since leaving Jeremiah Wright’s hateful church. Could Obama recite anything from the Bible without a teleprompter?”

“I bet Obama could quote the Koran though.”

“Trump is the best candidate for this country.”

“There’s not a sincere bone in Trump’s body. And I doubt he’s ever opened a Bible.”

“It was nitpicking, I have heard preachers refer to books of the Bible that way.”

“Why does this have anything to do with how well he can perform as a president? Last time I checked, Corinthians had nothing to do with global policy.”

“Some very prominent pastors say references the same way. Men like Alistair Begg of Parkside Church in Cleveland (on his radio broadcast Truth for Life), and Sinclair Ferguson. It really just shows the ignorance of the media that they think it’s a flub. By the way, I am a pastor with over 30 years in the ministry. Either way is correct and up to the speaker.”

“I think it was nitpicking. A lot of people can’t tell you what Second Corinthians even is.”

“Only a liberal Democrat would ask a question like that.”

“Who cares how he said it! Anything to cause controversy.”
