Bernie Sanders continues to do well in the polls, winning in Oregon Tuesday and coming very close to winning in Kentucky. Still, Hillary Clinton has an overwhelming lead in delegates and should clinch the nomination in the upcoming California primary no matter whether she wins or not. Some say the Sanders’ campaign is futile and is only helping Donald Trump? Others contend that Sanders should continue his fight and should be given a real chance to win the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. What do you think? Should Sanders throw in the towel or continue his fight no matter the consequences?
“The system is rigged in favor of the party insiders. Pro-Clinton fundraisers and campaign workers dominate the DNC machinery. Clinton and Obama negotiated this deal for Hillary’s coronation in 2008. Let’s be honest about what’s going on! I am a Democrat who is not blind.”
“But Bernie’s not even a Democrat. So how can he be telling Democratic Party officials what to do. He should have run as a Socialist. Wonder how far he would have got then.”
“Sen. Sanders has done well, but Secretary Clinton, even without the super delegates, has won more votes and delegates than the Sen. Sanders. I applaud him for his stance on issues like college tuition. However, the longer Sen. Sanders stays in the race, the weaker he is making the Democratic Party.”
“For those who say the system is rigged, these were the rules going into the primary elections. Candidates should know this. You cannot change the rules midstream. That would be unfair to those who voted for Secretary Clinton.”
“The vitriol coming from Sen Sanders’ supporters is unacceptable. Death treats to the Nevada chairperson and threats of “fire” at the Democratic Party convention must be denounced without qualifications. Democrats must present a unified front to combat Donald Trump in the national election in November.”
“Sen. Sanders must see the writing on the wall. I just hope that he will encourage his supporters to vote for the Democratic nominee in November. For the good of our nation, a dangerous, hot-headed, flip-flopping bully must not be allowed to be president.”
“How any of these Sanders supporters can allow Trump to win is beyond me. That has to be job one. Hillary supported Obama when it was clear she wasn’t going to win. Sanders should follow suit.”
