With just two months left in the year, the Monongahela Area Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to 2017, and beyond.

At its board meeting last week, chamber director Chris Grilli announced that the chamber will be mailing out its membership ballots for election of four board members. Board seats are up for election each year. They serve three-year terms.

The results of the election will be announced in early December.

“It’s important because there will be the members who will conduct the chamber’s business for the coming year,” said Grilli, who is chairman of the nominating committee.

“It’s important to have new members. Every year we have four positions open, and we try to have interested business members in the community as a part of the board.”

Board President Tony Bottino and Vice President Randy Rodriquez are not up for re-election.

The terms of treasurer Sis Fraser, and directors Tom Graney and the Rev. Ray DiCamillo are on the ballot.

Director Danielle Price is not seeking re-election, Grilli said. He declined to identify the fourth person on the ballot, pending acceptance of the nomination.

“I want to thank Danielle for her service,” Grilli said. “We appreciate the time and efforts she broght to the position.”

Board officers are elected by the directors in January.

Meanwhile, the chamber released a tentative schedule of events for 2017. The events include:

n Authentic Coach purse bash, 6 p.m. March 18 in the New Eagle Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall.

n Monongahela Easter egg hunt, noon April 8 in the Gazebo.

The board also discussed new technologies to better serve its membership and the community. The board is eyeing technology which would “help the general public to learn more about the chamber is doing for them,” Rodriquez said.
