Sparkle asks shoppers to give a little more to Give-A-Christmas (copy)
Total: 3,629.85
Goal: $25,000
As Cyber Monday shopping has come and gone, Sparkle, the Christmas star, is waiting at the Herald-Standard for the number of donations for the Give-A-Christmas campaign to rise like the number of “likes” for online videos of pets being funny.
“With the shopping-heavy weekend beginning at the department stores and ending on your computer screen, I hope you dig into your non-virtual wallet and donate to the Give-A-Christmas campaign that benefits the Salvation Army,” said Sparkle.
Herald-Standard readers have contributed $3,629.85 to the campaign so far with $21,370.15 more to go.
Sparkle was happy to see recent donations from the Uniontown Flower Club as well as Jessica Zack of Uniontown.
“Thank you to those who have donated to this great tried-and-true cause!” said Sparkle. “Your gift is truly one that will keep on giving to someone who will really need it.”
Readers can participate by sending donations through the mail or dropping them off at the Herald-Standard office.
Sparkle also wants to remind readers that Herald-Standard employees will be out for a collection for Give-A-Christmas from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Uniontown Wal-Mart. Donors will be given copies of the Herald-Standard.
Donations will continue to be received through 5 p.m. Dec. 22.
They can be mailed to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or brought to the Herald-Standard office during business hours. The final amount collected will be announced in the Christmas Day edition.
