When you go to Apothecare Pharmacy to have your prescription filled, you will get a patient-centric experience that you won’t find at the big box drug stores.

“A lot of other pharmacies see their patients as customers; whereas, we look at our patients as patients,” said Walter Lizza, RPh, co-owner and president of Apothecare Pharmacy. “Our goal is to fill our patients’ prescriptions, make sure they understand how to take their medications and send them home as soon as possible.”

In addition to filling standard prescriptions, Apothecare Pharmacy creates customized medication solutions through its Compounding Center; provides flu, whooping cough and shingles vaccinations (Morgantown Street location only); and fills pet prescriptions.

Apothecare Pharmacy also offers Medicine-On-Time–an innovative personal prescription system that takes the daily hassle out of taking medicine.

“As people get older, they have to take more medications. That can lead to guesswork about dosages and when to take each dosage. With Medicine-On-Time, we prepare personal pill cups that contain the exact pills each patient needs to take, along with a label that tells them the precise time to take their meds,” said Lizza.

In addition, Apothecare Pharmacy carries Bell-Horn orthopedic products and compression wear, along with hospital-grade breast pumps.

Apothecare Pharmacy is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All major insurances are accepted, including UPMC, Highmark and Express Scripts.
