Johnathan Ek Applause
The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce recently honored Johnathan Jeffrey Ek, of Hopwood, a junior at Laurel Highlands High School, as a student of the month for March.
A son of Holly and Christopher Ek, he is undecided about the post-secondary school he will attend, but plans to study math and sciences with the career goal of becoming a physicist.
Ek is involved in the extracurricular activities at Laurel Highlands, including golf team, diving team, pole vault and math competition.
He volunteers at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and has work experience at the Duck Hollow Golf Club.
Elected by their schools based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and citizenship, students of the month are honored by the chamber’s Education Council and were presented a recognition certificate at the Students of the Month Dinner in April.
