Short-handed Rockets drop season opener to Highlanders, 52-16
Jefferson-Morgan was short-handed Wednesday night in its Section 2-AA (2A) opener against McGuffey, and the Highlanders benefited from five forfeits in a 52-16 victory at McGuffey High School.
The Rockets’ Gavin Teasdale pushed his career record to 127-0 with a 16-4 major decision over Jett Pattison at 132 pounds. The Penn State University recruit is 5-0 this season.
Teammate Alex Lange earned a 4-2 decision over Seth Burgdolt at 126, and Jefferson-Morgan’s Josh Agnew won a 3-2 decision at 138. The Rockets’ Mason Palmer won by forfeit at 120.
McGuffey won by forfeit at 106, 113, 152, 160 and 220. The Highlanders’ Christian Clutter started things off at 170 with a fall over Justin Maddish in 33 seconds. Teammate Luke Shingle edged Kolin Walker, 6-3, at 182, and after a major decision at 195 and a forfeit at 220, Noah Cline pinned Mike Ludrosky in 4:28 to give the home team a 25-0 lead.
