Belle Vernon. LH split swim meet
Laurel Highlands (girls) 102, Belle Vernon 29; Belle Vernon (boys) 101, Laurel Highlands 72 – Laurel Highlands and Belle Vernon split a non-section meet at Laurel Highlands Thursday with the Leopards defeating the Mustangs, 101-72, and the Fillies winning by a score of 102-29.
The Fillies finished first in every event with Erin George (200 freestyle, 2:15.92), Jenna Roscoe (200 IM, 2:22.53; 500 freestyle, 5:42.76), Rachel Roscoe (50 freestyle, 26.14, WPIAL qualifying time; 100 freestyle, 58.57), Olivia Soom (diving, 139.30), Maria Mrosko (100 butterfly, 1:02.31; 100 breaststroke, 1:15.10), and Gwyneth Hamilton (100 backstroke, 1:06.16) all winning individual events.
The Leopards won the 200 medley relay (1:47.63, WPIAL qualifying time) and 400 freestyle relay (3:37.31, WPIAL qualifying time).
Robert Spekis (200 IM, 2:07.57, WPIAL qualifying time; 100 breaststroke, 1:01.64, WPIAL qualifying time), Ian Shahan (100 freestyle, 48.00, WPIAL qualifying time; 100 backstroke, 55.20, WPIAL qualifying time), and Tucker West (500 freestyle, 5:38.96) had individual first-place finishes for the Leopards.
Jonathon Lewis (200 freestyle, 1:58.03), Dylan Rice (50 freestyle, 24.62), John Ek (diving, 288.90, WPIAL qualifying score), Tyler Collins (100 butterfly, 1:13.64), and the 200 freestyle relay (1:40.37, WPIAL qualifying time) all had first-place finishes for the Mustangs.
Jacob Johnson’s time in the 200 IM qualified him for the WPIAL finals.
