Belle Vernon man charged with hitting motorcyclist while intoxicated

A Belle Vernon man was charged Friday after he allegedly hit a motorcyclist with his car in Washington Township earlier this year.

According to court documents, Dale Robert Belsick, 49, told police that he was trying to make a left-hand turn into Joe Fidas to make a u-turn on July 30, when he hit a motorcyclist.

The driver of the motorcycle, Robert Yantek, suffered from a severely injured left leg, with EMS stating they believed it to be shattered, police said.

Police said Belsick had red, glassy eyes and slurred speech. Multiple empty vodka bottles were observed in Belsick’s vehicle, and he was unable to pass any of the field sobriety tests, police said.

Belsick was charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence and driving under the influence.
