Falcons’ late rally falls short in 62-57
Brownsville cut the deficit to 57-53 late in the fourth quarter Friday night, but would get no closer for a 62-57 loss to visiting South Side Area in Section 4-AAA action.
The Rams (2-1, 2-4) led 20-12 after the first quarter, but Brownsville sliced into their lead in the second quarter, trailing 32-29.
South Side pulled away with a 20-9 advantage in the third quarter, but the Falcons (0-2, 4-3) steadily closed the 14-point gap until late in the quarter. Brownsville outscored the Rams in the final eight minutes, 19-10.
Shandon Marshall, who recently topped 1,000 career points, led the Falcons with 21 points. Phil Pace added 16.
The Rams’ Jake McDougal scored a game-high 32 points. Logan English finished with 11.
