Preston (W.Va.) 61, Laurel Highlands 59 – The Preston (W.Va.) girls chipped away at their 5-point deficit over the final 24 minutes Thursday afternoon to rally past host Laurel Highlands, 61-59, in the Laurel Highlands Christmas Tournament.

Laurel Highlands (1-7) led 15-10 after the first quarter and 28-25 at halftime. The visitors rallied to take a 36-35 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Preston then held on over the final eight minutes, outscoring Laurel Highlands, 25-24.

Taylor Eagle led Laurel Highlands with 14 points. Taylor Smith added 13.

Kirstin Brown scored a game-high 16 points for Preston. Makenzie Friend added 15.
