With the men’s and women’s basketball seasons both over, three Waynesburg University athletes were recognized for their on-court achievements.

Junior wing Jon Knab was selected as an honorable mention for the All-PAC basketball team. Knab played a crucial role for the men’s team, averaging 28 minutes per game, starting in every game.

Knab finished his season ranked in the top 15 of the conference in five statistical categories, including third in the conference with 399 points.

The most points Knab scored in a game was against Chatham in February. Knab put up 29 points with seven rebounds.

Collectively, he shot 49 percent from the field and led the Yellow Jackets in scoring, field goals made, rebounds and steals.

Knab led the PAC in 20-point games with eight such games on the season.

Knab will return to Waynesburg next year for his final season with the Yellow Jackets with 629 points over three years.

For the women’s team, the PAC also recognized senior Katie Gehlmann with an honorable mention laurel on the All-PAC team. Gehlmann’s senior year with the Yellow Jackets was highlighted when she surpassed 1,000 career points in her final collegiate game against Carnegie Mellon University in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.

Through the season, Gehlmann tallied 386 points and made 70 3-pointers, which led the conference.

In the PAC, Gehlmann ranked top-15 in four different statistical categories; aside from 3-point field goals made, Gehlmann was also second in the conference in free-throw percentage. Gehlmann had her best game of the season season against Geneva in February when she put in a season-high 22 points. In the game, Gehlmann went 6-for-12 from 3-point land and finished the game shooting 53 percent from the floor.

Gehlmann graduates this year as the eighth player in Yellow Jacket history to reach 1,000 career points.

Finally, junior Addy Knetzer was named an ECAC Division III South All-Star, being selected as one of five First Team players.

Earlier in the season, Knetzer also surpassed the 1,000-career-point mark for the university. Knetzer scored 503 points for the Yellow Jackets this season and had her best game during the ECAC playoffs. Against Moravian College, Knetzer put in a season-high 30 points and shot 70 percent from the floor.

Knetzer led the Jackets in points, field goals made, free throws made and rebounds, while finishing in the top 10 in five statistical categories. Knetzer led the conference in rebounding and finished fourth in scoring.

Knetzer will return next year for her senior year with the Yellow Jackets having finished her junior year with 1,171 points. If she averages 21 points per game in her final season with the Yellow Jackets, she will become the all-time leading scorer.
