Man charged with firing gun in home

By The 1 min read

State police charged Alexander Walter Bowland, 28, of 1062 Fox Ridge Road, New Salem, for allegedly discharging a gun in a home while his girlfriend was inside on Monday.

Bowland allegedly told police that he was leaving the home following an argument with Alyshia Marie Funk and grabbed a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun from a nightstand in a bedroom and the gun discharged, police said.

He said didn’t know a bullet was in the firing chamber, but he knew a magazine was partially inserted in the gun, police said.

The bullet entered a kitchen cabinet and struck a soup can, police said. No injuries were reported.

Bowland was charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied structure and recklessly endangering another person.
