Administrators in the Albert Gallatin Area School District will receive pay raises under a new three-year contract.

The school board approved an administrative compensation plan at its recent meeting that will provide raises to district administrators retroactively to the 2016-17 fiscal year.

District business manager Denise Sheetz said the new plan established a retroactive 2 percent pay increase for 2016-17, a pay freeze in the current year and another 2 percent increase in 2018-19.

The contract runs from July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2019.

The plan applies to 15 district administrators, including principals and administrative assistants in the district’s central office.

Administrators worked through the 2016-17 school year without a contract, Sheetz said.

The new contract also gives administrators three additional paid holidays.

Turning to personnel matters, school directors made two hires and awarded several positions at the meeting.

The district hired Michelle Andrews as a special education classroom aide at Masontown and Amanda Vielma as a school nurse.

Directors accepted the resignation of school nurse Lisa Show.

Positions at various schools were awarded to Kim Hellen, guidance counselor, AG South Middle; Tina Machosky, 3-hour cafeteria worker, high school; Sherry Hruska, 3-hour cafeteria worker, A.L. Wilson Elementary; and Terra Mick, 2½-hour cafeteria worker, Friendship Hill Elementary.

Additionally, district Superintendent Carl Bezjak presented certificates from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association to school directors Michael Dunham and Ken Plisko for their respective eight years and 20 years of service on the board.

The board also:

n Paid $18,639 through the capital projects fund to A.J. Demor & Sons Inc. for valve replacement work at AG South Middle School.

n Authorized the purchase of wrestling mats from Slam Dunk Sports Marketing at a cost of $7,217, including installation.
