Laurel Highlands snapped a four-game losing streak in Friday’s 25-21 Big Nine Conference victory over West Mifflin at Titans Stadium.

Ian Edenfield had a big part in the Mustangs’ win with two touchdowns, one on special teams and one on offense, and three sacks.

With the Mustangs holding an 18-14 lead in the third quarter, Edenfield pulled in a 27-yard touchdown reception from Conner Basinger for a 25-14 advantage after Alec McLay’s PAT at 5:41.

Edenfield got Laurel Highlands (1-4, 3-4) on the scoreboard when he returned a blocked punt 30 yards for the score and a 6-0 lead at 9:49 of the first.

“The kids played a great and complete game,” Laurel Highlands coach Zack Just said. “Getting a touchdown on special teams gave us momentum and we played well in all three phases. The defense made huge stops and the offense finished drives. We could have easily won two or three out of the last four, but we are getting better.”

The Titans (3-2, 4-2) took a 7-6 lead after Howard Reid’s 51-yard run and the first of three Dillon Weaver PATs at 2:54 of the first.

Dom Richter’s 46-yard touchdown reception from Basinger gave the Mustangs a 12-7 lead at 9:27 of the second.

West Mifflin responded with Parrish Parker’s 62-yard touchdown run that put it back on top at 14-12 with 8:27 remaining in the first half.

Basinger’s 14-yard run with 5:41 left in the second gave Laurel Highlands a 18-14 halftime advantage.

Basinger was 11 of 18 for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Richter had four receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown, while Edenfield caught five passes for 54 yards and a score.

Jadakiss Collins led the Mustangs in rushing with 34 yards on six carries.

Chad Petrush led Laurel Highlands in tackles with 14.
