Lady Vikings pull away from Fillies, 4-1
Mount Pleasant 4, Laurel Highlands 1 – Ally Bloom scored two goals and Mount Pleasant prevented host Laurel Highlands from leaping over it into third place by pulling away for a 4-1 Section 3-AAA girls soccer victory on Thursday night.
A victory keeps the Lady Vikings (8-7-1, 7-3-1) in second place with the Fillies (8-6-1, 6-5) in third. Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs.
Erica Tarr got LH on the board first with a goal with 10:31 remaining in the first half but Mackenzie Leeder evened the score for Mount Pleasant 3:36 before intermission.
Bloom then broke the tie with two goals within a span of 2:47 as she found the net at 35:54 and again at 33:07.
Lexi Stanek accounted for the Lady Vikings’ final goal at 8:32.
Anna Sepic made eight saves for Laurel Highlands and Hannah Brown stopped four shots for Mount Pleasant, which travels to second-place Belle Vernon (10-4-1, 8-2-1) on Monday.
